8 mile

I woke up with the roosters on Saturday, 6:30 AM. Ouch. It was the first RUN NYC meetup. We ran 4 miles north from the runner's station (Chambers/Westside Highway) past the intrepid and then back to the station. Free water afterward was needed. Then Cory and I walked back down Chambers St and it was apparently free tastings day. I tried some strawberry green tea thing that was awesome. Starbucks was giving away smoothie samples, which were not so good.
Today I swapped out the sneakers I bought from Jack Rabbit last week. I got the Saucony Progrid Ride 2.
I went to the gym right after and ran about 5.5 miles on the treadmill. These sneakers are way better. Definitely talk to Luke in Jack Rabbit, he knows his stuff. And the sneakers we $30 cheaper then the pair I returned.
Last week summary. M 4.75, T 3, W 7, R off, F 5.25 S 8 S off

Treadmill today

I'll be visiting the treadmill today, I had 6 beers last night and there was 0% shot I was waking up early to go for a run. I'm looking a fun filled 5 miles on the mill. Waa hoo.

First distance run tomorrow

Tomorrow is the first crack of dawn wake up for marathon training. DeClue and I will be meeting the RUN NYC group at Chambers and the West Side highway for the first of many distance runs. They meet at 8:15 AM. F*CK.

You have a confirmed spot in the marathon!

From the ING NYC website...

You have a confirmed spot in the marathon! So there it is, it's confirmed...on the road to 26.2 miles.

Some other notes, I managed to run 5 miles on the treadmill at Washington Sports Club in DC Saturday. Luckily, the gym was about a mile from the hotel.

I also did my first morning run today, 4.75 miles at a 9:19 pace. Jeez, the first mile or so was dragging badly. I'm happy it's out of the way for the day. Let's see if I can keep to the AM wakeups.

I'm going to do prana tonight. http://www.pranapoweryoga.com/

Early morning wakeups not working so far

I know AM runs have to start happening very soon, but I just can't do it yet. I woke up at 3 am and reset the alarm for an hour later (6:05 to 7:12) so I could sleep more. Then I woke up at 7:12, changed it 7:22. Then woke up at 7:22 and set it for 7:30. Maybe I will hide the alarm clock when I go to bed. So today is going to be a treadmill day.
Marathon application was put in the mail last night after work!

Tomorrow

Tomorrow I plan on mailing in my application for the 2009 ING NYC marathon. I leveraged a connection to get in. It's all about who you know, right? In this case, I knew someone, who knew someone who worked for a company that worked with New York Road Runners. What?

I'm creating this blog as a way for friends and family to keep track of my progress, or lack there of from today through November 1, 2009 where I will be running 26.2 miles.

Tomorrow I will also be attempting my first morning run. I'm shooting for 6 miles, with 2 miles of it at tempo speed. This morning was my first attempt at a morning run, I changed the time for the alarm before I even went to sleep last night! Instead I did 5 miles on the treadmill.
